BFBS visits College of Esports

BFBS Esports talk careers and opportunities at the College of Esports

From Passion to Profession

For many, Esports is not just time well spent, but a dream industry with which to build a career from. Although simple to play, Esports as an industry is complex and competitive. Professional roles differ wildly, from your more "typical" positions, to hyper-specific roles, such as in-game broadcast observers and desk analysts.

Robert Wylie (Head of Esports) and Jonah Jupp (Esports Community Manager) took an opportunity to visit the College of Esports in London and speak with students about their very own Esports pathways and shared insights. Students were advised on how best to approach writing Esports-tailored CVs, portfolios and growing Esports communities as part of their final projects.

Jonah reflected on the experience: "It was great to see such a bright future for the Esports industry with students going out of their way to gain experience in the industry. In a competitive industry it's really important for candidates to stand out during the application process. It was encouraging to hear that the students have also gained an understanding of the importance of Community Management, and hopefully, we gave them some tools to help them identify ways to grow their own communities".

UK Veterans Gaming

The BFBS Esports team first visited the College of Esports in attendance of a UK Veterans Gaming Community meet in 2025. Here, the team was first introduced to many of their student talents across production, photography and video directing. The College of Esports have long been supporters of the UKAF Esports community, acting as hosts for UVG (UK Veterans Gaming), BFBS Esports and Royal Navy Esports across recent times, with students being afforded invaluable opportunities to develop their skillsets and experiences in the process.

Our thanks go out to Nathan from the College of Esports for hosting us, and we look forward to when our paths next cross!
